DO YOU KNOW THE 3 LEADING CAUSES OF ACNE?

If you ever feel overwhelmed by the number of acne “cures” out there, you are not alone. It’s easy to be swayed by the latest miracle gel or treatment, but does new always equal better?

To get a handle on what makes acne treatments effective, let’s look at what causes acne in the first place.

Cause #1

There are three basic causes of acne — dead skin, bacteria and oil in pores. As our skin lives and breathes, it leaves behind dead cells that can block pores and trap microscopic debris. This is why exfoliation is crucial. It clears away dead cells so new ones can thrive.

Cause #2

Bacteria. Pimple-causing bacteria take root in your pores where they quickly multiply. The result? Breakouts, irritation, and not to mention, embarrassment. Benzoyl Peroxide is proven to kill acne-causing bacteria. But in most products on the market, Benzoyl Peroxide misses its target, remaining on the surface of the skin rather than penetrating deep into the pores where it can have the most impact.

Cause #3

Finally, there is oil. A natural product of our skin, oil helps keep the epidermis moisturized. Too much of it, however, can be a bacteria breeding ground. Salicylic Acid can help flush oil out of pores but it can also rob skin of natural moisturizers and lead to dryness, irritation and further breakouts.

There are products out there that effectively target a single cause of acne. Many of these products use the same acne-fighting ingredients like Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid. But only one name takes a three-pronged approach to blemish-free skin, and that’s Proactiv+.

The Solution

The Proactiv+ 3-step approach tackles acne by dealing with each cause separately: A Skin Smoothing Exfoliator to remove dead skin cells that block pores; a Pore Targeting Treatment that drives Benzyol Peroxide deep into pores; and a Complexion Perfection Hydrator that flushes pores with Salicylic Acid and moisturizers to help keep skin looking bright and healthy. By hitting all three cause of acne where it counts on a daily basis, blemishes don’t stand a chance.

Is Proactiv+ right for you? You’ll only know once you give it a try. If it doesn’t work, there’s a money-back guarantee so you don’t have to worry. It just may be the best money you’ve ever spent.

Update: The awesome team at Proactiv created an online quiz to help set you up with the skincare solution that is best for you!

Click Here to take the 30-second Skincare Quiz and Proactiv will recommend a solution fit to your personal acne needs.

“Benzoyl Peroxide is proven to kill acne-causing bacteria” Yeah, but This has also been proven to cause harm against skin fighting against acne. A study I found only after I put this stuff on my acne and made it exponentially worse.
Also, you don’t even mind giving the shameless ad for Proactiv+, huh?

Such a shameless ad! I’ve used proactive for a year and a half and have never had a completely clear face while using it. It’s great for people that don’t take care of their skin, and that’s the reason for their acne. But acne can come from stress as well. Proactive doesn’t work in such cases.

Try using essential oils like Lavender, Tea Tree, and Orange Peel. I have severe acne from high school until 25. Of course no over the counter medicines worked and none from the dermatologist either. Did my own research on natural remedies and after about 6 months of use, I have a clear face. NOW My face did “get worse before it got better” meaning at one point all the bumps on my face were present raw and about to pop, then after they did, my face has stayed clear. It’s been clear for about 2 months now. I use a variety of essential oils, really whichever one i feel like smelling that day. Apple Cider Vinegar is also another natural acne remedy. It is WAY cheaper than essential oils but most definitely smell as good!

Yes! Tea tree oil is the BEST to spot treat and lavender to calm angry skin. Love both of them!

Proactive is just like any commercial products and they don’t do much. They are filled with harmful chemical that isn’t good for the skin. Try something more natural like the Shea butter African black soap, it is specifically made to clear acne with organic ingredients

A bit confused on the causes. Actually, it’s when pore is clogged, whether it’s hardened sebum (body oil), dust, dead skin, scum from your soap, residues of make-up, stale lotion, etc. But it does not stop there. I becomes an acne when bacteria breeds and it get infected. Unfortunately, most of these is a result when we (actually those big soap manufacturers) of coconut oil-based soaps that has natural anti-bacterial properties. I used to have a break-out but not anymore with the use of pure organic coconut oil soaps hand-made by Positively Flawless. Leaves me with a soft skin too.

I’ve been using proactiv+ for 6 months now and I still have acne. I use the product once a day so it doesn’t dry out my skin. The only reason I have been using it so long is because I was completely desperate for something to work. However, this didn’t work like I thought it should. I wish it would have generated better results.

I went to my doctor and got a referral to a dermatologist. He prescribed me Epiduo and antibiotics to clear up my acne. Ive used ProActive my entire life, religiously, and had terrible breakouts still. With this stuff, I literally just put on under eye concealer and mascara to go to a job interview today and looked like I was wearing foundation my skin is so clear. It’s a life changer. Think about going to a dermatologist! It saved my life. The pills are more important than the Epiduo I think, but they definitely make the perfect team.

        What antibiotics did you use?

I believe this information is quite misleading. As these are some of the surface causes of acne, they are not the only ones. In fact, they are not the primary causes of skin problems at all. Your skin is your body’s largest organ, if your body has an excess of bacteria, inflammation, food sensitivities, environmental irritants including pollution we breathe, and the like, on of the first lines of defense is to push the toxins out through your skin to get them out of you. True causes of acne are usually things like refined and processed sugar and flour as well as commercially produced (non-organic) animal products including meat and dairy that has been raised, processed and had multiple chemicals, coloring, stabilizers, fillers added to it. When you clean up your diet removing all things that are not found in their most natural, organic form, your skin will naturally follow and a product like this one for your skin can *compliment* (not cure) the healthful lifestyle and getting rid of some of the remaining skin issues. If it’s not working for you like many of you have stated that is because you’re not attacking the root of the problem, you are essentially applying a bandage to a gaping wound that needs stitches. Educate yourself on what I’ve shared here and you will be empowered to change your life for the better. Best wishes!

Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Acne is not simply caused by your pores. Look at children. They rub their grubby hands all over their faces. No acne. The outside of your skin is the reflection of what is happening on the INSIDE of your body. It is most often due to hormonal disruption, which can be caused by diet changes, sleep abnormalities, food allergies, autoimmune diseases, and more. Please stop trying to sell people topical garbage. Let’s get down to real science.

Yes. Yes. Yes. Hormonal imbalances are one of the biggest reasons for acne… AND… Acne comes from imbalances in your gut… namely TOO MUCH SUGAR. You gut imbalances the hormones, doesn’t digest the proper food to sustain a strong immune system and bacteria and fungus can grow… inside and out. You skin is a mirror of what’s happening inside.
